Huntington Harbor Lighthouse Viewing Guide

Driving Directions:

From the Long Island Expressway, take Route 110/New York Avenue north until you hit Main Street/ Route 25A. Make a left onto Main Street and then the next right onto Wall Street. You will come to a four-way intersection where Wall Street becomes West Shore Road if you continue straight, Creek Road is to your right, and Southdown Road is to your left. Make the left onto Southdown Road. Continue on Southdown Road to the end (the road makes a almost 90 degree right turn and then a close to 90 degree left turn before you reach the end). There is a barrier here at the end of the road (private property on the other side), but you can view the lighthouse across the water from behind the barrier.

Alternately, instead of turning left off New York Avenue, you can continue straight until New York Avenue becomes East Shore Road. While you are on East Shore Road, you can get a nice view of the Eastern side of Huntington Harbor. You can turn right off of East Shore Road to get onto any number of roads that head out to the Bay (or take it all the way around to Sandy Point), but there is private property all throughout the shore area here (and many of the right turns head up into hilly areas where there are large estates before they head down to the shore).
